The College Ireland initiative is the culmination of 6 years effort and development. 
The genesis of College Ireland was the decision taken by IAA to form an “Education Partnership” with a 3rd. Level College back in 2004. This led to the development of aviation and transport focused diploma and degrees and the participation of staff from approximately 35 companies in these programmes.

In September 2007 it was decided to form The Advisory Council in order to provide the participating companies (within the aviation and transport sectors) with a forum through which they could determine the direction of education and training in the wider sector.
